Unlike most countries, the UAE does not issue visas through its embassies or consulates abroad. In addition, you cannot apply for a UAE visa yourself – you must be sponsored in the UAE or apply for Dubai Visa, through an authorized agency to submit on your behalf. There are different types of Visa which Dubai is offering.
Since you cannot apply for Dubai visa on work permit, yourself, one of the following can use on your behalf:
(1)- A host or sponsor who lives in the UAE.
(2)- A licensed travel agency through which you purchase travel tickets. Travel agencies in your country may also collaborate with local tour operators in the UAE to offer tour packages. Please make sure the travel agency you hire is reasonable and licensed before you pay them.
(3)- The hotel in which you are staying in UAE.
(4)- One of the following airlines provides that you will fly with them:
- Etihad Airways
- Emirates Airlines
- Fly Dubai
- Air Arabia
Procedure to Apply for Dubai Visa
In Dubai, the process to apply for Dubai visa is conducted by Amir Services through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA). Once they issue your Dubai employment visa, make sure you have the following documents and credentials.
Step 1 – Get your documents ready
When applying for a tourist visa in the UAE, you must have many documents to support your application. However, These are the documents you will need:
(1)- Photocopies of your passport and your sponsor’s passport. It would help if you had a passport that is valid for at least six months.
(2)- Photocopy of relevant passport pages. In some cases, you will not need to submit your original passport at all. Instead, you can include photocopies of the relevant pages of your passport (or all pages of your passport).
(3)- Passport size photos as per UAE visa photo requirements. The image needs to be taken on a white background for visa and UAE identification applications, with the ears, forehead, and chin fully visible.
(4)- If you are a woman traveling alone: Objection letter (NOC) from your father or husband.
(5 )- Certified round trip airline ticket or airline ticket for the next trip. If you are applying through an airline, the ticket will belong to that airline.
(6)- Proof of accommodation, such as your hotel.
(7)- Proof of medical insurance purchased for UAE
(8)- A letter from you stating the purpose and duration of your visit
(9)- Proof of legal residence in your country (such as your visa or residence permit). It only applies if you are not a citizen of the country where you live.
(10)- If you have a host:
- Proof of your relationship with the host
- Evidence of their residence status: A copy of your host’s UAE resident visa and their UAE identity
- Proof of their financial situation: Attested copy of their work contract or their salary certificate
(11)- Proof of the previous trip:
(12)- If you have been to the UAE in the past year, submit copies of registration and foreign tickets to your passport
(13)- Copies of any US, UK, Schengen area, Canada, Russia, Australia, or New Zealand visa you have received in the last five years
(14)- You may also need to provide.
- Proof of your financial status
- Evidence of your current address
- Marriage certificate
Additional documents required by the relevant authorities issuing visas in Dubai / UAE
Go to an Amer Center:
Once you have all the documents, visit an AMER Service Center with your (sponsor’s) original UAE ID.
Take the UAE ID application, typed at the Amir Center, to the federal authority for identification and citizenship. A list of all the centers is provided here.
Keep the following documents with you:
- Family Identity in the UAE
- Your real UAE identity
- Photo of your family members
- If you have never identified your UAE, you will need to provide biometric data such as your fingerprint and Irish scan. It only applies to people 18 years of age or older.
- AED 270 – For two years
- AED D370 for three years
What is an Amer Center and where to fine one?
Go to a local branch near you. Branches of Ammar Service Centers can be found across the UAE. Many shopping malls also have centers that provide all the necessary information.
You can also access online services through www.amer247.com, run by a quasi-governmental organization that provides services related to visa, UAE identity, and medical examination applications.
There’s also an app for ‘Amer GDRFAD’ on the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
If you have any questions about Amir’s services, you can call the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs at 8005111. Once Amir Services initiate this process, it takes 48 hours to obtain an e-Visa, which will be sent to your registered email address.
Step 3 – Get a Medical Test:
Rehmatullah said, “When applying for a medical test at the Aamir Center, mention that the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Medical Fitness Center is close to your home or the best place to go. It’s easier said than done. “
Important Note: Some Dubai Health Authority medical fitness centers are open for longer hours. Find out which service center will be more accessible for you to visit. You can find a list of medical care centers here.
Take the DHA Health Center application, where you will need to have your blood tested and X-rayed first. Applicants are screened for HIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, and syphilis in some occupations.
Charges for the Medical Test:
- Regular application. AED 320 (where medical test results come in five working days)
- Urgent – AED 410 (where medical test results come in 48 hours)
- VIP – AED 750 (where medical test results come in four hours)

Step 4 – Get the Health Insurance:
Health insurance is mandatory in Dubai, and family members need to cover at least essential health. For more information on how to get your health insurance, read our detailed report here.
Step 5 – Get Your Visa Authorized:
The last step is to stamp your visa on the passport. To do this, you will need to visit the Amer Center with the following documents.
- Medical fitness report
- Identity of the UAE
- Original family passport
- Health insurance papers
- Your (sponsor’s) actual UAE identity
- Regular – AED 460 (You will receive a passport with a stamped visa in three to four working days)
- Urgent – AED 560 (Sealed in one day, but a sponsor will need to go to immigration service)
Rehmatullah told Gulf News that once an application for typing has been sent, the applicant will receive a call from the competent courier service al jail to submit his passport. You will also receive an SMS to your registered mobile number with the Zazil Airway bill number.
“Once the visa is sealed, the passport will be returned to you through the same courier service,” he added.
