Eid al-Adha – 9th to 11th Jul, Sat to Mon

Eid ul Adha also known as the ‘Festival of Sacrifice,’ is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide. Moreover, to commemorate the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command. However, Eid is an Arabic word meaning “festivity,” while Ādha means “sacrifice.”

 This holiday is celebrated on the 10th day of the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. The sheep are sacrificed and distributing the meat to near and dear ones. In 2022 Eid al-Adha is on the 9th, 10th, and 11th of July as on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

In UAE, Awal Muharram or Hijri New Year is starting to become an international holiday. Muslims celebrate the day as it marks their new year, and they believe it falls in the month of Muharram.

The Hijri New Year’s Day is an official holiday in many Muslim countries to commemorate the beginning of the Muslim era. Moreover, the term Hijra appears in the Qur’an where it refers to Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE.

Commemoration Day is a public holiday in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that commemorates deceased UAE martyrs and their loyalty to their country. UAE public holidays fall on 1st Dec every year and are one of the most important holidays in UAE. Further, this day also marks the anniversary of the transfer of power from the British to the Union Jack in 1971.

UAE National Day – 2nd &3rd Dec, Fri & Sat

The UAE National Day public holiday in UAE is also known as ‘Al-Eid Al Watani.’ It will be on 2nd and 3rd December for the 2022 year.
